Members, Auxiliary, Family, and friends of VFW Post 4353,
An Honor to Serve Our Veterans and Community
As a proud member of the VFW, I recently had the privilege of spending time with comrades from District 13 at VFW Post 4254 on November 16. We gathered for fellowship, shared stories over lunch, and participated in the voting for the Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen, and Teacher of the Year award programs. Winners of these impactful programs will be announced in December.
On November 19, I attended a Veterans Event at the Lee County Public Library in Cape Coral, connecting with local veterans and discovering the wide range of services available to them. I had the honor of meeting Tiana Bohrer, founder of Women Veteran Warriors, and Darwin Larson of Veteran Biz Connect. I also learned about United Way’s “Mission United” program, which offers essential services such as employment assistance, mental health support, housing, and more. Veterans in need can call 211 or 239-433-3900 for support.
At the VFW, our mission extends beyond our members. While non-member guests are welcome to most of our events, we also host Open House Events to connect with our community and grow our membership. Upcoming highlights include:
Thanksgiving Feast – November 28, 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Celebrate the holiday with a warm meal and good company.
Christmas Breakfast with Santa – December 8, 9:00–11:00 a.m.
A family-friendly morning hosted by the Elks Club, featuring breakfast, a chance to meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and gifts for kids.
These events are open to the public and are a great way to learn about the VFW’s work while enjoying some holiday cheer.
It’s an honor to serve alongside my fellow veterans, building connections, supporting one another, and strengthening our community. We welcome you to join us in making a difference.
Respectfully,
Commander SJ, 4353

From Commander Sarah Yacko
Hello Members, Auxiliary, families, and friends of VFW Post 4353
As we reflect on this recent Veterans Day, I am filled with gratitude and admiration for the way our community has honored our veterans. The festivities this past week demonstrated the heartfelt respect we all hold for those who have served. On Friday, November 8, I had the privilege of joining veterans from VFW and the American Legion at Pine Island Elementary. The students put on a truly moving Veterans Day presentation, touching our hearts and reminding us of the importance of passing on the values of respect and patriotism to the next generation. Saturday, November 9, brought the Veterans Day Parade in Cape Coral, where I joined members of VFW Post 8463. Marching alongside my fellow veterans was an experience that underscored the camaraderie and unity we share, even beyond our time in uniform. Finally, on Monday, November 11, I was honored to participate in the Veterans Day ceremony at American Legion Post 136. Moments like these are a powerful reminder that our service doesn’t end after active duty; it continues in supporting each other and in being present for our community. In that spirit, VFW Post 4353 will be hosting a Thanksgiving gathering on Thursday, November 28, from 1-4 PM at 8150 Stringfellow Rd, St. James City, FL. All veterans and guests are warmly invited to come together for a meal, gratitude, and fellowship. These events demonstrate the strength of our community and the bond among veterans as we continue to serve one another. I am proud to be part of a community that values and celebrates our veterans with such genuine respect.
Sincerely,
SJ
Post Commander
