“Honor and Respecting Old Glory “

An American Flag Exchange Program

Our deepest thanks and appreciation go out to those who serve and have fought in defense of our freedom. During these difficult times it is more important than ever to demonstrate our spirt of unity and determination to prevail. The American Flag represents that American spirit. The Greater Pine Island Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4353 in conjunction with the American Legion Post 136, and the Elks Lodge 2781 are proud to announce an American Flag Exchange Program. This flag exchange is a collaborative effort between these patriotic organizations and they are offering a free American flag exchange ahead of Memorial Day, Flag Day, the Fourth of July and Veterans Day to all residents and businesses located in the greater Pine Island and Matlacha area. In this exchange, these organizations will provide a new 3×5 or 4×6 flag while the retired flag is given proper disposal in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code. Honoring and respecting “Old Glory” is something that is the responsibility of all Americans and this program will proactively demonstrate this commitment. Anyone residing on the greater Pine Island will be able to turn in a tattered and worn flag for a free exchange. Our goal is to ensure that only serviceable flags are flown and that unserviceable flags be collected and retired in a dignified manner. This initiative is being jointly organized and “kick start” funding provided by these service clubs on Pine Island. We are seeking donations to fund the continuing flag purchases. Be assured that only flags made in the USA will be purchased.

To make a donation drop by or mail to VFW Post 4353, 8150 Stringfellow Rd. Saint James City, FL 33956. Make check payable to VFW Post 4353, for Flag Program. All donations will be used exclusively for flag purchases.

Respectfully,

Honoring Old Glory Committee
